Gas prices devastate families and our economy. They drive up living costs in an already weak and vulnerable economy therefore undermining national security and our ability to defend our country. They seem independent of oil prices or reduced demand, and there is insufficient competition for the market to ensure integrity or fairness. There are implications of market manipulation and every requirement for charges of price gouging during a state of emergency as well as evidence for possible charges of price fixing and monopolization that clearly exist. Record, gross profit margins in this bad economy do not occur naturally in a free market which requires competition to work. We hereby petition our government to thoroughly investigate and right this wrong. It is our constitutional right.
