As part of the process of buying or selling a home, home-owners living in a managed community are required to provide prospective buyers with copies of Homeowner's CC&R's and additional documentation.
In recent years the fees charged by Homeowner's management companies for the printing and provision of forms to escrow companies has risen far beyond any reasonable price and can now run well above $500. Even worse, management companies know that they can slow the sale of a home by refusing to release documents unless payment is made upfront. In sum, HOA management companies are monopolizing a small but critical component of the home sale process and extorting exorbitant fees from average Americans.
