Currently the Federal Govt. is winning about 95% of it's cases, often by withholding evidence, coercing co-defendants, overcharging, and threatening (and following thru) with harsher sentences to anyone who actually takes a case to trial. We have 2.5 million incarcerated people in the US. Statistically the US has about 5% of the worlds population and over 25% of the prisoners. Much of what the govt. has done is contrary to the constitution and the right to a fair and speedy trial. Reforming the justice system from top to bottom should be a top priority. There is too much incarceration, too much police and prosecutorial abuse, too much over charging and too many civil liberties being violated. Only those with buckets of money and top lawyers have a chance in this system.
