Our criminal justice system is currently in a state of disorganization and inconstancy on the issue of mental health. When it comes to the issue of sanity there are minimal tests cooperated with state and federal witness to declare state of mental health. I propose a statue or set of possible methods be adopted nationwide to ensure the equal treatment of everyone under the law. Not only are the tests at the bare minimum, the mental health disorders the courts claim to be pertinent is a lacking list. Though more research could be done on rates of recidivism, states should be encouraged to follow initiatives like those in Ohio and investigate reforming systems, such as the mental health docket.
