Investigate internal working procedures of the National Visa Center relating to immediate relative visa cases

Created by A.R. on January 27, 2015

At present, there is a tremendous backlog of immediate relative visa cases awaiting processing at the National Visa Center. The NVC advise to wait 60 days for review of documents. However, if a mistake is made by the applicant or petitioner, a further 60 days is requested. In a recent meeting with the American Immigration Lawyer's Association, the NVC claimed that they would not request amendments to forms when a minor mistake is made - such as non-applicable fields being left blank. This is still occurring, keeping families apart for longer than necessary. The NVC is not working to promises made and is penalising those that have followed the law and have paid the right to do so. Please investigate internal processes and ensure that every case is processed fairly and in a timely manner.
