Cnet, a division of CBS television. They had almost the exclusive distribution of things like limewire, Kazaa, morpheus, bittorrent, Azeureus/Vuze. Now Cnet, Zdnet, and download.com are all divisions of CBS interactive, which is all owned by CBS viacom. Cnet distributed little widgets they could click on those sites to download from cnet, and etc. Cnet would host the software on their own servers, after they tested it for “effectiveness” and all their editors approved all the copying and pictures, and etc. After they tested it thoroughly, to make sure it work perfectly. Then they would allow people to get these widgets so they could have it hosted on their site. A lot of other sites had the software as well. It was co-branded with Cnet.
