Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are developing a software app known as Isis, a mobile payment platform that uses the Near Field Communications radio in many Android based smartphones. This application is very similar to the Google Wallet application which existed before. The carriers are blocking access to the Google Wallet app, claiming they don't want software to access the NFC radio's Secure Element, although Isis is allowed this privilege. This tactic aims to create a monopoly on the emerging technology of mobile payment. As of the creation of this petition, Google's Play Store shows seventeen "5-star" reviews of the Isis app and 217 "1-star" reviews, the lowest possible rating. Of the 217 negative reviews, the most read complaints contain "monopoly", "Google Wallet", or both.
