On February 2nd, David Kassick was pursued by Officer Lisa Mearkle after fleeing from a traffic stop. In an attempt to halt Kassick,Officer Mearkle deployed her Conducted Electronic Weapon (CEW) and eventually aiming two shots into Kassick's back.She then proceeds to administer CPR as reinforcements arrive.
The arrest affidavit notes that in the video evidence of the altercation Kassick is clearly depicted as prone and non-aggressive.
Police are bound to serve the public by protecting life and property in a manner that enforces the law. Officer Lisa Mearkle has failed to do so. Officer Mearkle’s case should be re-examined by an agency outside of the police force to asses her conduct and her mental stability before returning her to the field.
