Nationwide prices for ammunition of all types have in some cases tripled in the past year. If this trend was happening with any other product (like gasoline) I believe that there would be a federal investigation in to price gouging at the national and local level. Since most ammunition produced crosses state lines, I believe this falls under federal purview according to the commerce clause.
