Brooklyn DA's Office (DA), with a checkered history of misconduct, has created national outcries in a series of cases, including its recent prosecution & conviction of NYPD Officer Peter Liang.
DA's reported pattern of misconduct includes withholding evidence, suborning perjury & pressing charges on flawed evidence.
Consistent with the pattern, DA recently prosecuted Liang over a shooting accident, knowing well that the tragedy was not police brutality & Liang's liability lies in a civil not a criminal court. To convict him, DA relied on controversial testimony by Liang's partner (granted immunity), on theories (some self-contradicting) unsupported by evidence & on questionable tactics. DA has abused prosecutorial discretion & committed institutional misconduct, justifying WH probing.
