This week saw another iteration of Republican obstructionism based solely on political prospects, with the filibuster of Chuck Hagel's Department of Defense confirmation vote. This, with numerous other occasions of obstructionism is a shame and embarassment on our country. We pay congresspeople to do work, when they continuously obstruct any work from being done, they need to be held accountable. This is not how democracy works and indeed, our democracy is not working right now.
