Investigate retailers who are blocking NFC mobile payments in their stores for their own special interest.

Created by E.D. on October 25, 2014

Please investigate retailers like CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walmart and Best Buy for unfair business practices regarding mobile payments via NFC (Near-field communication).

Recently large retailers have been turning off existing NFC (Near-field communication) terminals at their registers to block its competitors like Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Softcard. This is due to their own special interest for its up and coming mobile payments platform CurrentC and to squash its competition prior to its rollout.

This sends a dangerous precedent for innovation, and blocks consumer choice. With the recent credit card hacks that have breached retailers POS (Point of sale) terminals across the US, this will only stifle and postpone safer forms of mobile payments for consumers.
