Investigate the situation in Rose, MI where 7 public school teachers defended a coworker who sexually molested a 13 year old. According to the mother, 7 teachers argued the following in defense of this sexual offender, “They put at the bottom of their letters that there was no harm done to our son, he’s a straight‑A student.” The school board determined they would not fire these teachers based on free-speech rights. However, I suggest this is not an issue of free speech but rather an unacceptable understanding of certain heinous actions against children. Any public employee who takes such a careless attitude towards the molesting of children certainly should not be working with them.
