Investigate Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) w/r/t Effects on Gun Violence, Children and Public Safety

Created by J.M. on February 19, 2016

Preliminary research has shown Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) to be closely linked to acts of school shootings and acts of violence (http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/851480). More research and oversight is needed into these and other (not just SSRIs) perscription drugs allowed to be sold in the US.

There is a public perception with prescription medications in the U.S. that if they are allowed to be sold then there is some level of safety. The persistence of large pharmaceutical companies allows them to hide and distort statistics specifically related to adverse reactions. While they can be 'held accountable' through class action lawsuits and settlements, this process takes place after-the-fact of adverse reactions and negative consequences have already occurred.
