Investigate Turing Pharmaceuticals and Martin Shkreli for endangering public health by raising the price of Daraprim.

Created by J.H. on September 22, 2015

After obtaining a monopoly of the 1950s era drug Daraprim, the company increased the per dose price from $13.50 to $750. This medicine is critical for those who need it (toxoplasmosis), is in on the World Health Organization's list of Essential Medicines, and the price increase can raise patient costs into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Turing and Shkreli need to be investigated regarding endangering the public health. In addition, funding of alternative sources needs to be pursued in order to keep Turning from worsening the situation.
