On multiple levels ticketing agencies are creating a price gouging system against the American consumer.
--When buying tickets online they're charging exorbitant fees that have never been justified. The consumer is being charged a "convenience fee" when in fact the consumer is the one making it MORE CONVENIENT FOR THE AGENCY by allowing the agency to not have to staff additional employees at a physical point of sale or on phone lines.
--Agencies for event type sales (concerts, sports) should be forced to sell NON TRANSFERABLE tickets (in an individuals name) for a set amount of time (2 weeks?). This would put an end to the unethical tactic of secondary agents buying tickets so they can immediately resell them at a premium on sites such as Stubhub, com, at oftentimes a 300%+ markup.
