We would like to understand how it is that the US DOJ prioritizes the prosecution of individuals such as Aaron Swartz for crimes it considers particularly punishable while at the same time it settles cases with actors and institutions who caused the economy and citizens untold harm during the financial meltdown and the housing disaster. We would like to have the DOJ to work to serve and protect its citizens and serve the spirit of the law by going after those actors whom we cannot protect ourselves against. The might of the government justice system should be used against those powerful entities that can cause us harm rather than to bring well-meaning private citizenry to their knees.
