Manure is in abundance, as there is currently enough of it to cover all of the clear land in America over 3 times. Manure produces heat in a similar BTU output as wood. This means that it can be used to run the furnaces of power plants. Manure can be burnt directly in a dry and solid state, and methane gas can be extracted from liquefied manure, which can be used to heat America's homes, as methane is a valuable, and highly combustible, clean-burning gas.
Furthermore, phosphorus can be extracted from manure, to be used in commercial fertilizers. Last year, the United States spent over 2.5 billion dollars to purchase and import phosphorus, most of which can easily be supplemented by the phosphorus extracted from manure.
Finally, the purchasing of manure would benefit America's farmers.
