Investigate the voter suppression that occurred in the Illinois 'Democratic' Primaries

Created on March 25, 2016

In the recent Illinois Democratic Primary six counties (Adams, Champaign, Effingham, Madison, Sangamon, and St. Clair) had insufficient ballots for everyone to exercise their right to vote. There was an unusually high turnout, but thousands of voters have been turned away at the polls.

Jon Barnard (Adams County state attorney) has asked for an injunction that would grant those voters the ability to vote late due to these issues.

Yet IL Attorney General Lisa Madigan (a Clinton supporter) appealed to prevent late votes and on March 23 a stay was issued thereby condoning this injustice.

This is 1) de facto systemic voter suppression and 2) in the context of a 'victory' by a 1.8 percent margin, its political motivation is clear.

Investigate the primary! Grant voters their political rights!
