Investigate the war crimes that took place during the 2009 Sri Lankan civil war against people of Tamil origin.

Created by T.R. on October 14, 2012

The U.S Government should investigate into the atrocities that took place against people of Tamil Origin, during the 2009 Civil War in Sri Lanka. As described by Rights groups Amnesty International, this will be "a vital step forward for the country and for international justice".

Human rights groups estimate that up to 40,000 civilians were killed in the final months of the war. The government recently released its own estimate, concluding that about 9,000 people perished during that period.

The reason behind this petition is due to the inconsistent reports handed out by the Sri Lankan Government following their internal investigation.

This effort from the U.S government is much needed for the SRI LANKAN TAMIL people whose ancient history and rich culture is facing extinction.
