Chad Scholer was wrongfully convicted of 3 home invasion robberies in 1999.His sentence is 39 years and 4 months. His lawyer did not put on any defense and in fact was running for a Judge's seat at the time. The Defense Attorney did not hire any investigators nor call any witnesses to the stand. 19 Sets of Fingerprints were withheld from the Jury and produced at sentencing. None of these fingerprints belong to Chad. This is a Brady violation where the State is required to turn over evidence favoring to the Defendant. Chad does not fit any physical description of the perpetrators.
One victim did not testify but instead the victim's girlfriend testified as to what the victim told her. This is hearsay evidence and Chad received 27 of his 39 year sentence based on this part of the case.
