In the speech regarding his proposal for Immigration Reform President Obama said "Unless you're one of the first Americans, a Native American, you came from someplace else. Somebody brought you".
Those words sound nice and honoring but hold little significance without any direct action.
If a "nation of immigrants" wants to comprehensively and justly overhaul their Immigration Laws, then it makes sense that they invite the indigenous peoples of their land to the table, as active participants in the conversation.
We the people call on President Obama to immediately and intentionally include the voice of the Native American community in the process of reforming the Immigration Laws of the United States.
