Every American who receives a dollar of federal funds or benefits should have the voluntary choice to disclaim, delay, or defer all or part of those benefits to help reduce the cost of government and avoid the burdens imposed by the deficit.
Every American entitled to a tax refund should have the voluntary choice to designate a portion of that money to reduction of the deficit.
Individuals and businesses that personally participate in directly sharing the sacrifices our country needs might be recognized as "New American Patriots" or something similiar and be given a sign for their window or a pin for their shirt.
By personally embracing the sacrifice to avoid the peril we face Americans today can show that same character that made the "Greatest Generation" so revered.
