Invite Taiwan President for a State Visit to the US

Created by C.L. on January 21, 2016

Taiwanese elected Tsai Ing-wen as the next President. The US gov't should invite Tsai to pay a State Visit to the US, after her inauguration in May.

The US gov't doesn't formally recognize the Government of Taiwan. All diplomatic relations between the two countries take place in an unofficial, weird, ridiculous, troublesome and cost-ineffective manner. There is no proper dignity for the President of Taiwan to pay a state visit to the US.

Taiwan is a country with an effective government, defined territory, permanent population and the ability to conduct foreign relations with other states. We need the US gov't to formally recognize Government of Taiwan, to maintain a full diplomatic relationship with Taiwan and to formally invite President Tsai Ing-wen to pay a State Visit to the US.
