Invoke Article II Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution to convene the U.S. Congress in a special session on mass shootings

Created by A.E. on December 04, 2015

The nation is sick with violence, and neither liberals nor conservatives have a solution. Both sides think they know what is best (e.g. at the extremes: take away all guns or give everyone a gun), and both sides can find evidence to back their view. In reality, no one knows precisely how to stop the mass shooting epidemic that has emerged in the United States. Inaction simply isn't an option.

The most basic responsibility of government is to protect its citizens, and it has failed to do so. President Obama must convene Congress in a special session to address mass shootings. The time for rhetoric has passed. We must begin carefully tweaking legislation incrementally and observing the effects. It doesn't matter what we try first, but we must begin enacting changes. The time is now.
