The IRS collects tax records including W2s, investment records, 1099s, and many other records from numerous sources. These same records are required to be collected by individuals for tax preparation. I am proposing that not only is the IRS required to make these records available for online download, but also prepare forms online containing the collected information, to reduce the difficulty, potential for errors, and time consumed in preparing taxes. Documents should be available in PDF form.
