issue an Executive Order, banning Assault Weapons.

Created by M.S. on March 19, 2013

Mr. President,
Today, Senator Harry Reid, disappointed gun control advocates and families of victims of Newtown, Aurora, and other massacres by refusing to include the assault weapons ban in a gun control bill. This is unacceptable. But you can fix this. Since Congress can't act, I urge you to pass an executive order banning assault weapons. There is precedent. In 1989, President George H.W. Bush signed an executive order banning importation of semi-automatic firearms after the Stockton Massacre. Now, it's time to take action. Don't be afraid of the NRA's response as they're just lobbyists for gun manufacturers. In fact, 50% of gun owners believe that owning an assault weapon makes the country more dangerous, not less. Please be bold and ensure that no more children die from gun violence.
