Issue an executive order banning the use of chokeholds by police.

Created by C.H. on December 05, 2014

As the resent events of the Eric Gardner case have unfolded, it has become clear that police across America are being held unaccountable for using deadly force with tactics such as chokeholds, which some police departments, such as the NYPD has outlawed. However, this does not mean it is illegal for a police officer to kill or harm a citizen with this tactic. President Obama has the power through constitutional means to give an executive order that will make it illegal & punishable for police officers to use choke holds during arrests. There are various videos of police officers using this dangerous method while citizens are restrained in handcuffs, putting their lives in danger. By issuing an executive order, it would make strides in changing the legal system & holding police accountable.
