Issue an executive order to clearly protect and respect the rights of legal marijuana users under state law.

Created by J. . on September 02, 2014

Medical marijuana patients and other legal marijuana users face the paradoxical situation of being in constant violation of federal law. Issue an executive order that clearly directs all executive agencies to cease prosecution of individuals who are in compliance with applicable state marijuana laws. No one should live in fear of possible federal prosecution when they are following the law in their state. The President's and Attorney General's prior public statements and stated policies on this issue are a good start, but something more official is needed to protect the rights of patients. The federal government's role in regulating marijuana should end where states have stepped in to regulate it, especially for medical use.
