In lieu of sequestration and furloughs of federal employees throughout 2013, this petition asks that Christmas Eve 2013 (which falls on a Tuesday) be recognized as a federal holiday by issuance of an Executive Order. Christmas Eve has been declared a federal holiday when Christmas has fallen on a week day the past three occurences.
If this request is accepted, government employee morale - damaged by sequestration - may improve.
