Issue an Executive Order Declaring a 5-Day "Internet Holiday" to Provide Temporary Relief From Viral Conspiracy Theories

Created by D.E. on January 17, 2013

In the spirit of the "Bank Holiday" proclaimed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt from March 6-10, 1933, we petition President Barack Obama to issue an Executive Order proclaiming an "Internet Holiday" over five days, at a date of his choosing within the year 2013. Recognizing that the general climate of the Internet of January 2013 has reached a level of panic similar to the banking climate of March 1933, we request that the President take this temporary step to acknowledge that the citizens of the United States need respite from the rampant conspiracy theories (including, but not limited to, Benghazi, Newtown, Aurora, and other "Truther" movements) that have metastasized among Social Media sites in recent days, to allow everyone to take the proverbial chill pill, in the digital sense.
