Issue an executive order declaring September 17th a Federal Holiday in observance of Constitution Day.

Created by J.F. on March 04, 2013

Make the observance of Constitution Day, 17 September, a federal holiday! This important event in the history of the United States deserves to be observed in the same manner as the 4th of July our Independence Day.

The US Constitution is the one document which provides for our freedoms and as a nation we should recognize its conception. By taking 1 day a year, the birthday of the signing of the Constitution, we can foster a better understanding of what an exceptional form of government we have.

A new tradition could be created where the members of Congress, the President, Vice President, Supreme Court Justices, and Cabinet Secretaries gather in the House and the entire Constitution is read allowed by the Speaker of the House on Costitution Day.
