The United States has more gun related deaths than any other developed country. Pro-Gun interest groups have successfully lobbied to prevent a comprehensive study on the effects of gun violence as to relates to public health. A government backed study is needed to either confirm or deny the role that guns play in the violence in our country. The lack of empirical data is one of the leading reasons that sensable gun control measures continue to fail in Congress. By empowering the public with a complete study, the people of the United States, and its electedfficals would be forced to address the issue without partisian bias or misleading facts.
