Because Americans are simply better than this, it is wrong to continue to use the Choctaw name for Oklahoma, which literally translates to "Red People," a well-known slur used against native Americans.
We the people demand the president issue an executive order proclaiming the 46th state's name null and void upon receipt of this petition.
State-sponsored racism cannot be allowed to fester and demean native American Indians and this has gone on far too long. If even one native American is made uncomfortable by the name, that is one too many.
Until such time as Oklahoma may vote on a new name, the title "46th state" shall be used in all formal communications. "Oklahoma" will henceforth be considered a racist slur, falling under federal hate-crime policy when used to demean other people.
