Issue an executive order to regulate the sale of flamethrowers.

Created by J.S. on March 07, 2016

In 2009, the USA ratified the Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Incendiary Weapons, committing to dramatically reduce the use of flamethrowers in wartime.

In 2015, two American manufacturers began selling flamethrowers to the public. Marketed as both an agricultural tool & entertainment device, these flamethrowers are capable of directing a 50-ft stream of fire for up to 1 minute.

Flamethrowers are currently Federally unregulated and not considered a firearm by the BATF. Given their power, the lack of restrictions is inappropriate. We must close this loophole before a device of this power is used in a mass casualty event. These devices have great potential to inflict harm and should be regulated like high-powered pyrotechnics & demolition explosives are regulated today.
