As President Obama's final term draws to a close, we petition him to issue an executive order that would abolish and expunge all currently held debt from student loans, both private and public. A large amount of the population will never be able to pay off their student debt in their lifetime, and others owe more in interest than what the original loans were worth. These loans and debt take a particularly hard toll on the middle-class trying to raise a family, and state employees, such as teachers. Removing all currently held student debt would immensely help the American people, open up the possibility for more upward mobility, create more economic growth, and leave behind a lasting legacy.
