Issue a Federal mandate to remove the phrase "Protect" from all police related items i.e. logo, oaths and documentation. This phrase gives a false pretense and a false sense of security to the people of this country. It allows the police to imply that they are responsible for the impact crimes have on people.
Based on court cases at the state and federal level, the statement (protect) is false. Case Law: (Warren v. District of Columbia) and (Castle Rock v. Gonzales)
Below are examples of the false sense of security http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/administration/mission.shtml

If it is not the responsibility of the police to protect, then it is the responsibility of individuals to protect themselves.
