We request that the United States government recognize the fact that an overwhelming majority of Puerto Ricans are not content with their current status as a Commonwealth of the United States of America. This was evident in the referendum that was available to the people of Puerto Rico in this years election which resulted in a majority of votes clearly expressing discontent with our status. We urge the US Government to issue a final referendum so that the people of Puerto Rico can finally vote for either statehood, independence, or free association. Whatever the people decide would then move on to Congress for approval. It is about time that the issue of Puerto Rico's status be addressed once and for all so that the island nation can move on and devout its time and energy elsewhere.
