Ahmed Mohamed was recently accused of bringing a home-made bomb to his high school, MacArthur High School in Irving, TX. This accusation over a device - which was in fact a home-made clock with digital display - resulted in Mr. Mohamed being arrested, booked, and expelled from his high school for three days. Criminal charges against Mr. Mohamed by local authorities may still be pending. All of these actions represent a gross over-reaction to an innocent, harmless action by a curious student. Allowing this action to stand sends a chilling signal students, researchers, and the nation at large.
