By creating an issuing a National Voter ID card, this would eliminate the current Right Wing attempts to defraud people of their civil rights, and could be implemented through a grant to State DMV's to issue the cards for free. Further, let's make voting, at least in elections where there are Federal offices involved (Senate, House, President, V-President) mandatory, If we can do it for jury duty, we can do it for voting too. You know how hard it is to get out of jury duty? That's how hard it would be to stay at home from the polls. Probably couldn't get this done for 2012, but we'll have four years to do it. The Social Security system already has us all on file anyway (My Medicare Card came automatically when it was time, 18 years old could get a notice for this as well).
