On September 21, 2011, officials in the state of Georgia showed the WORLD how flawed our criminal justice system is when they executed Troy Davis, a man who was convicted on killing an off duty police officer in 1989. With the level of doubt that surrounded the circumstances of his conviction, he should have been given a new trial. Putting a man to death based solely on eyewitness accounts, where 7 of the 9 witnesses recanted, and when there is an overwhelming amount of reasonable doubt about his conviction is unjust and truly despicable. The world was outraged as they saw a potentially innocent man being put to death. There HAS to be a halt to the death penalty until our system is fixed. Please join me in signing this petition to put a halt to the death penalty. R.I.P. Troy Davis
