Rufus, a 1 year old (just recently) beloved family beagle mix bit the child he lives with when accidentally startled by the child and was about to eat. Now Orange County Florida Animal Control has seized him and plans to euthanize him. The child did get a couple of stitches, but the incident was accidental.
From the mother:
I had gotten Rufus new wet dog food and he was so excited about this treat. While I was mixing the food in the kitchen my son who was excited as well came running from around the corner behind us and Rufus turned and bit him, a “snatch and release” bite. The bite was bad, however, I would like to mention Rufus has never been aggressive in the past and has never acted like that towards my son or anyone in the past. The hospital reported the bite to Animal Services
