Issue a Proclamation Declaring May 2016/17 as Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Month to End Gun & Gang Violence.

Created by C.F. on March 11, 2016

On behalf of the Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council and our ongoing work to end Gun & Gang Violence with our partners which include: Power 105.1, Video Music Box, the Source Magazine and Daymond John, we request the President issue a Proclamation declaring May 2016/17 as "Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Month." Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer, a period when gun violence spikes. 88 citizens die daily from gun murders and 1.4 million gang members create 48% of the nation's violent crime. To improve public safety and take guns off the street we must take a proactive approach to the problem. This “Call To Action” creates a platform for students, Artists, Actors and the Hip-Hop Community to unite and become a part of the solution and not the problem
