Mr. Rogers helped millions of American kids grow up to be better people. From the beginning of his career, when he helped saved PBS by speaking from the heart to the Senate, to his inauguration into the TV Hall of Fame, when he selflessly used his acceptance speech time to ask the audience to take a moment to think of all the people who helped them become who they were, Fred Rogers never spent a second of his life not thinking about how to do just that - help kids become who they were meant to be. If ever there was a figure in American television who deserves a holiday, it's Mr. Rogers.
