Stolen valor effects every American on a daily basis. People expect current and prior service men and woman to hold themselves to a greater standard. When someone lies and says they are prior or previous service members they disrespect the service men and women who have sacrificed so much for the country they love. If it is illegal for someone to pretend to be a police officer or a federal agent why shouldn't it apply to Military Service members? Keep Americans honest and stand up for those who've given so much so you can be free.
