Issuing Taser guns to law enforcement officers provides a less than lethal method of subduing violent individuals. If Officer Darrin Wilson had a Taser he could have used this to stop Michael Brown's advance toward him. Law enforcement officers clearly have the right to protect themselves when necessary. Using less than lethal force is clearly a better option for law enforcement and society in general. Tasers do not eliminate the possibility of needing to use deadly force, but it would certainly reduce the need to use deadly force.
