It is illegal for any state of the union to secede from the union via post-Civil War law. All states that signed treaties and agreements with the United States of America that succeeded from the United States during the Civil War, as part of their return voided all prior signed treaties and agreements. In conclusion it is illegal for any state to secede from the union. It is also no longer the right of the state of Texas to secede from the union as the agreement that granted them the power to do so has been Voided since their secession from the United States during the Civil War.
