It is time to bring Fair Use into the 21st century. The internet can no longer be a wild west where corporations abuse their intellectual property to suffocate creativity and free speech.
BMG's recent abuse of take down powers has stifled the speech of both a Presidential candidate and a news organization. Both the Romney campaign and the AP Youtube videos are protected by fair use. Yet, the issue is that current take downs arrangements give room for abuse because they leave little protection for the defense of fair use.
We ask that PK's proposed "Curb Abuses of Copyright Takedowns" amendments be brought forward for legislative debate.
Bring balance back to intellectual property, both at home and abroad.
