During the Kennedy administration the U.S. placed a trade embargo on the country of Cuba. While it made sense at the time, it no longer is effective. President Obama himself has made claims that it is time to end the embargo, going so far as to call it a failure, yet he recently just renewed the embargo for another year. Claims are that it is due to the oppression of the Cuban regime, but this embargo hurts the common folk of Cuba more than anyone. We only stand to benefit from ending the embargo. It is time for the people of the United States to demand attention to this issue and call for an end to the embargo.
