We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

It is time to stop celebrating Christopher Columbus and start remembering the victims of 9/11.

Created by R.P. on September 11, 2016

It is past time to stop celebrating the achievements of a man who caused the death and / or enslavement of countless Native Americans. We celebrate him because he "discovered" the Americas, but the vikings had been here centuries earlier and millions of Native Americans were living here. We are really celebrating that he found a new place for the European aristocracy to exploit, which they did very well.

Columbus day is celebrated in 34 states currently, how about create a National Remembrance Day on September 11 to remember something worthy of a holiday and stop celebrating a man who should only be remembered for the horrible crimes he committed.
